2 Capture 8mm footage

Firstly I had to do some maintenance on the Eumig 8mm projector and in order to do so I had to order a new replacement bulb and researched how to change it via a YouTube video with additional help from a pdf version of the original manual.

Once I had replaced the bulb in my Eumig 8mm projector it was now time to capture the reels of found footage that I had gathered. Firstly I set up the camera for this I am using my Canon 550d and a tripod. Then I projected the film onto a white wall in order to get the clearest picture that I could. I had sent out an email to both the City College Norwich and University of West Anglia to see if their film/media departments had a telecine device that I could use for this project in order to get the best possible picture quality but unfortunately only City College got back to me stating that they did not have these facilities on site. Once I had reorganized how to capture the 8mm footage digitally I discovered that capturing the projection was actually more in keeping with the theme of the piece in the fact that it would be as if the viewer were watching a home movie with flickers and pops from the projector.

Once the footage had been captured I began to edit out certain parts that were not in keeping of my themes, all shots with people had been cut out so it would be as if it could easily seen as the viewers own home movie from the 1970’s, these shots consisted of the Norfolk coastline, the Norfolk broads and animals.
